She is excited to share these rarely taught ancient practices and hopes to see graduates teach them on a regular basis in yoga classes and workshops around Australia.
Topics:
The integration of the respiratory system, digestive system, mind and emotions
Anatomy of the respiratory system and allied yogic practices (vama-dhauti, shankha-prakshalana and neti)
Abdominal and thoracic breathing with comparative emotional awareness
Traditional Hatha Yoga understanding of pranic flow and effect (practice of full yogic breath and viloma)
Facilitating guided breath awareness and pranayama sessions
Yogic physiology and the ‘ham-tham’ principle (practice of nadi shodana, surya and chandra-bheda)
The practice of kumbhaka and the 4 primary bandhas (mula, uddiyana, jalandhara and maha-bandha)
Practicing and teaching vitalising pranayamas: kapalabhati and bhastrika
Practicing and teaching tranquilising pranayamas: shitali, sheetkari and ujjayi
Practicing the primary Hatha Yoga kriyas: agnisara kriya & nauli kriya
Accreditation credits: 30hrs (including homework task: pranayama practice diary)

As an E-RYT500 Accredited Yoga instructor with over 1000 hours dedicated yoga training, Ruthie brings not just her qualifications in Trauma Yoga and Yin Yoga to the table, but also over 35 years experience as a fitness professional.
In a past life, Ruthie has represented her home country of New Zealand in competitive Aerobics, has competed nationally as a body builder, and spent over ten years as a fitness video presenter, international presenter, coach and choreographer for the world-renowned Les Mills International, the forerunners of pre-choreographed fitness programmes.
